Tornado Cash developers on trial for allegedly assisting in Money Laundering over $1 billion in crypto assets.
[Bitu] According to reports, the criminal trial of Roman Storm, co-founder and developer of Tornado Cash, officially began this Monday in Manhattan federal court. The jury will determine whether he knowingly assisted in Money Laundering over $1 billion in Crypto Assets, including funds related to the North Korean Lazarus Hacker organization.
Roman Storm is currently facing charges of conspiracy to commit Money Laundering, violating U.S. sanctions regulations, and operating an unlicensed remittance business. If all charges are upheld, he could face up to 45 years in prison. He has stated that he pleads not guilty. The trial is expected to last four weeks.
